GOODNIGHT CHILDREN EVERYWHERE

SYNOPSIS: Set against the chaotic aftermath of World War II, this play intimately explores the emotional and sexual fragility of family relationships. In 1945, five years after being evacuated to Canada, 17-year-old Peter returns to London, UK. His parents are now dead and his three older sisters await his arrival.

CAST REQUIREMENTS:
4 WOMEN
Betty * age 21 – the eldest sister, works as a nurse in her brother-in-law, Mike’s medical clinic; nurturing by nature, she takes on a mothering role vis-à-vis her siblings. She adores Mike and wishes she could find a man ‘just like him’.
Ann * age 20 * the middle sister, married to Mike, she is pregnant, restless.
Vi * age 19 * the youngest sister, an aspiring actress, learning the hard way that theatre in London, UK is based on ‘qualities’ other than talent.
Rose *age 19 * Hugh’s daughter, introduced to the family as a potential love interest for Peter. She resents her father and dreams of American movie stars.
3 MEN
Peter * age 17 * the youngest sibling, he is shy, innocent, on the verge of manhood; it is disorienting for him to return to England after living in Alberta from age 11 to age 17.
Mike * early 50’s, married to Ann, a doctor. Kind-hearted, he is very much the new ‘father’ of the family.
Hugh * late 40’s, a colleague of Mike’s, brought to the family as a potential suitor/husband for Betty. He has raised Rose alone after his wife left him.
Please have a one minute contemporary monologue prepared. Auditioners will also be asked to do a cold-reading of a short scene from the play. The sides will be available outside of the audition room, please come a few minutes early to prepare. Please note: Goodnight Children Everywhere is a subtle and complex play, it would be extremely helpful for the actors to take the time to read the play beforehand to better understand the relationships between the characters.
Also, please note that a British accent is required for all roles except for Peter. However, audition monologue and cold read not required to be done in dialect.

SHORT FILM PRODUCTION AUDITIONS
M&S Marshall Production is accepting Theatre/Film resumes and headshots from interested acting candidates for auditions for the dramatic upcoming production “Addiction” written by Matthew Marshall. This is a short film style productions slated for shooting during summer to early fall of 2012. For the production m & s Marshall Productions is seeking non-equity actors, female and male age range 17-60. Shooting is scheduled to take place between July and August of 2012 in St-Thomas and London, Ontario, Canada. Exact schedule of course is dependant on who are cast. Some flexibility is being exercised to take into consideration schedules of people coming on board.
“Addictions” opens with Kayla Butler your average girl next door facing a review board to see what further punishment she might receive for her brush with the law. She has a secret the will shatter the image that everyone has of her. Can one event in someone life truly change it this much? The production is Kayla telling of her journey of entering an addiction group program, where she is forced to face recent events in her life that have lead to her being court ordered into the program. Through the program Kayla must now admit she has an addiction while learning to blend in with the group of people she is with who all have their own demons of addiction that they are at different stages of facing and dealing with. Will this group therapy help her to overcome her addiction or push her over the edge? Will these people she has just met turn out to be an answer to her prayer? Will she convince the review board that she has learned from her experience or will they feel that she needs to be punished further for her actions.
