It takes thousands of hours to bring a show to life. In this workshop, we’ll look at the technical aspects of a show when it comes to building costumes. From costume craft to backstage performance etiquette, you’ll develop a better understanding of what happens behind the scenes with award-winning costume designer Whitney Bolam, who runs The Costume Shoppe here in London and has designed costumes for several LCP shows (Twelfth Night, Steel Magnolias, Mame, etc.). She’ll teach you about her design process, what it’s like to work with a director’s show concept, and what goes into pulling together the look of a show. You’ll also learn about costume etiquette, and how to work with your costume on stage. Discover how costume pieces become partners in performance, and how they impact you as an actor. In this section, you’ll work with costume pieces from the LCP Wardrobe, develop a character narrative, and explore how movement and attitude can be impacted by an article of clothing.
Maximum of 10 participants.
Not in New Stage, but interested in the workshop?
LCP Members can register for $25, and non-members for $50. Registration for the workshop will remain open until either it is filled or until June 17, 2018.
Please Note: All New Stage Workshops take place at the London Community Players' Annex Space at 523 South St, NOT at the Palace Theatre. Spots in the workshops are limited and need to be purchased in advance as some preparation may be required, as well as items brought from home. We ask that you arrive prior to the workshop start time.
Workshops spaces are only available for purchase online on a first come-first served basis. If you do not have an existing customer profile, you will need to fill one out before making your workshop purchase, including an active email address. You will receive information and correspondence regarding the workshops via email.
If the workshop you wish to attend happens to sell out before you can register, don’t despair! In the event this happens we will create a waitlist. If you wish to be placed on a waitlist for sold out New Stage workshops, you will need to email program coordinator Kaitlyn Rietdyk here. We will not be accepting waitlist requests via phone or facebook messenger.
