Workshop 6: Stage Combat 101

  • The Annex 523 South Street London, ON, N6B 1C4 Canada (map)

Sunday, February 17 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm OR
Wednesday, February 20 from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

In this workshop, Fight Coordinator Kerry Hishon teaches you the basics of Unarmed Stage Combat. From punches and choke holds to falling and slaps, Kerry shows you how to safely portray violence on stage. With a focus on controlled movement, Kerry will teach you how to take care of yourself and your scene partners, and you'll learn what your body is capable of!

Please bring water, and wear comfortable clothing as well as stable, supportive shoes.

This New Stage Workshop Series is held at the London Community Players Annex Space at 523 South St. Each workshop begins promptly at its indicated start time. The building will be open a minimum of 30 minutes beforehand. Please take weather into account, and arrive with enough time to get settled before the beginning of the workshop itself.

You may wish to bring a pen and notebook, water, and a sweater if you're prone to getting chilly.

Not in New Stage, but interested in the workshop?

LCP Members can register for $25, and non-members for $50. Subsidies available upon request.

Workshops spaces are only available for purchase online on a first come-first served basis. If you do not have an existing customer profile, you will need to fill one out before making your workshop purchase, including an active email address. You will receive information and correspondence regarding the workshops via email.

If the workshop you wish to attend happens to sell out before you can register, don’t despair! In the event this happens we will create a waitlist. If you wish to be placed on a waitlist for sold out New Stage workshops, you will need to email program coordinator Kaitlyn Rietdyk here. We will not be accepting waitlist requests via phone or facebook messenger.

The New Stage Program and Workshop Series is made possible by a generous grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

An agency of the Government of Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is one of Canada’s largest granting foundations. With a budget of over $136 million, OTF awards grants to some 1,000 projects every year to build healthy and vibrant Ontario communities.
