Workshop 7: Theatre Basics

  • The Annex 523 South Street London, ON, N6B 1C4 Canada (map)

Sunday, February 24 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm OR
Tuesday, February 26 from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

New Stage Coordinator Kaitlyn Rietdyk takes you through all of the theatre basics you'll need to know in the rehearsal hall, from “Stage Right” to “Stage Left” and “Cue” to “Italian Run.” We’ll also look at some theatrical superstitions: What’s the deal with The Scottish Play? Why shouldn’t you whistle backstage? Is the Palace Theatre really haunted?

Rounded out with some theatre exercises and games, you’ll leave this workshop with a comfortable grip on the basics, and be ready to learn more.

Please bring water, and wear comfortable clothing as well as stable, supportive shoes.

This New Stage Workshop Series is held at the London Community Players Annex Space at 523 South St. Each workshop begins promptly at its indicated start time. The building will be open a minimum of 30 minutes beforehand. Please take weather into account, and arrive with enough time to get settled before the beginning of the workshop itself.

You may wish to bring a pen and notebook, water, and a sweater if you're prone to getting chilly.

Not in New Stage, but interested in the workshop?

LCP Members can register for $25, and non-members for $50. Subsidies available upon request.

Workshops spaces are only available for purchase online on a first come-first served basis. If you do not have an existing customer profile, you will need to fill one out before making your workshop purchase, including an active email address. You will receive information and correspondence regarding the workshops via email.

If the workshop you wish to attend happens to sell out before you can register, don’t despair! In the event this happens we will create a waitlist. If you wish to be placed on a waitlist for sold out New Stage workshops, you will need to email program coordinator Kaitlyn Rietdyk here. We will not be accepting waitlist requests via phone or facebook messenger.

The New Stage Program and Workshop Series is made possible by a generous grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
