Workshop 8: Audition Preparation

  • The Annex 523 South Street London, ON, N6B 1C4 Canada (map)

Sunday, February 24 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm OR
Wednesday, February 27 from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Work with New Stage Program Coordinator Kaitlyn Rietdyk on the way you approach auditioning for theatre performances. You’ll cover audition criteria, etiquette and best practices, how to prepare for an audition, and what to do when you get in the room. In this workshop you’ll learn how to showcase your talents, and present yourself as someone directors will want in their cast. Participants will also get a trial run in front of a makeshift audition panel, with constructive feedback and suggested areas of focus.

Please bring a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue in print (either in a book that you own, or printed page; we'll be writing and making notes on the text). The monologue does not have to be memorised, but you should be familiar with the speech itself, and the show it comes from.

This New Stage Workshop Series is held at the London Community Players Annex Space at 523 South St. Each workshop begins promptly at its indicated start time. The building will be open a minimum of 30 minutes beforehand. Please take weather into account, and arrive with enough time to get settled before the beginning of the workshop itself.

You may wish to bring a pen and notebook, water, and a sweater if you're prone to getting chilly.

Not in New Stage, but interested in the workshop?

LCP Members can register for $25, and non-members for $50. Subsidies available upon request.

Workshops spaces are only available for purchase online on a first come-first served basis. If you do not have an existing customer profile, you will need to fill one out before making your workshop purchase, including an active email address. You will receive information and correspondence regarding the workshops via email.

If the workshop you wish to attend happens to sell out before you can register, don’t despair! In the event this happens we will create a waitlist. If you wish to be placed on a waitlist for sold out New Stage workshops, you will need to email program coordinator Kaitlyn Rietdyk here. We will not be accepting waitlist requests via phone or facebook messenger.
